Woman admits to entering home, showering, eating food, wearing owner’s clothes after car accident

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — A Nashville homeowner was surprised Sunday morning to find someone had broken into her home, eaten her food and even rifled through her drawers.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers were called to investigate a possible burglary at 1280 Old Hickory Blvd. on Sunday and spoke with the homeowner.

The woman said she noticed someone open the door to her car, which was parked in the garage, then went inside to find several items of food had been removed from the refrigerator and pantry and left on the counter, the affidavit states.

Officers looked through her home and found no one, but upon searching the property found the secondary home was locked, according to their report. The woman told officers it should be unoccupied and unlocked, the affidavit states.

Upon entry, officers found 41-year-old Laquinta Thomas asleep on the couch and took her into custody.

Thomas said she was involved in a car accident the night before and left before officers arrived on the scene, according to the affidavit. After assuming no one lived in the house because the door was unlocked, Thomas told officers he had showered, eaten food from the main house and put on clothes he took from the house.

Officers reported finding a bag near the door containing items belonging to the homeowner, including a towel. The woman told police she was aware of a car accident that happened in the early hours of the morning in front of her home.

Thomas was booked Sunday afternoon and charged with aggravated burglary.
