ALPENA — The Lost Lake Woods Club of Lincoln recently wrapped up its annual Chair-ity auction event, raising more than $1,000 for the Breast Health Fund at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

The auction included chairs, decorations and other pieces of furniture, which club members decoratively painted with beautiful motifs such as flowers and theme pieces to create functional works of art. The items were on display and open for bidding during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

“We are so grateful to our friends at the Lost Lake Woods Club,” said Ann Diamond, director of the MyMichigan Health Foundation. “They have been an amazing support to our breast health program over the years. They regularly host the Chair-ity Auction as well as the Rally for a Cure Golf Outing. Both events bring awareness to breast cancer while raising funds for local breast health patients. The leaders of these projects, especially Paulette Kallstrom, herself a breast cancer survivor, are genuinely passionate about this cause and we are so grateful for all their hard work.”

The Breast Health Fund at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena supports breast cancer prevention, screening, diagnostic tests, educational services, equipment and patient care items. This includes access for eligible people to receive financial assistance with screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, breast biopsy, interpretation fees, support materials after breast cancer surgery, genetic counseling for breast cancer and needs transport.
