Fact

A video claiming that Muslim organisations, including Jamaat-e-Islami and Raza Academy, have submitted five demands to Maha Vikas Aghadi Coalition (MVA).— including a deputy minister post for a Muslim leader — is widely circulated on social media.

The video claimed that these organizations are seeking cabinet representation, waqf board reforms, madrassa support and reservations for Muslims in exchange for a fatwa in favor of MVA candidates.

Background and analysis

The video, for Hindi news channel Aaj Tak, has a news ticker about Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Varanasi in 2020. Investigators who reviewed the video noted that a ticker about Modi’s inauguration at Banaras Hindu University appeared in a report Aaj Tak no connection since January. 16. Furthermore, the font and style used in the video differs from the standard format of Aaj Tak, raising further doubts about its authenticity.
