The Montreal Canadiens will hit the ice at the Prudential Center to face the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, November 7th, and both teams have been playing Under recently.

Our Canadiens vs. The Devils expect the Habs’ improved defense in front of No. 1 goaltender Sam Montembeault to pave the way for another low-scoring result at the Prudential Center tonight.

With the puck set to drop at 7pm ET, let’s dive into our top NHL picks.

Canadiens vs Devils prediction

My Canadiens pick
Below 6.5 (-110 at BET99)

My Canadiens analysis

The Montreal Canadiens they’ve played better team defense in their last two games, with 1.76 goals and 3.0 expected goals per 60 minutes at 5v5, compared to 4.24 and 3.79 points in their first 11 contests.

Goalkeeper no. 1 of the Habs Sam Montembeault he was also solid with a .914 save percentage and 2.54 GAA while stopping 11 of 12 high-danger shots in the two games.

As a result, the Canadiens have played the Under in back-to-back clashes, and strong team defense in front of solid goaltending is their easiest way to be competitive.

However, as is often the case with a conservative, low-risk style, scoring opportunities and offense are sacrificed. Montreal has been solid this season with the 13th-highest xGF per 60 (2.57) at 5-on-5 and a power-play percentage of 21.7 for 11th, but allowing the most goals at 60 (3.82) at 5-on-5 paved the way for a 4-7-2 start.

Simply put, Montreal has room to pay more attention to defensive details without sinking the offensive ship. The Habs have generated 2.62 expected goals per 60 on 5-on-5 over the past two games, which is right in line with 2.56 per 60 over the first 11, after all.

Returning to New Jersey Devilsno. 1 Jacob Markstrom is lined up to return to the crease to face the Canadiens. He’s allowed just four goals in his last three starts with a .948 save percentage and has helped the Devils to three straight Under games, generating just a 1.87 goals-against 60-for-5.

Canadiens vs Devils Same Game Parlay (SGP)

Below 6.5

Kirby Dach Over 1.5 hits

Dougie Hamilton Over 2.5 shots

I will continue to target the Canadiens forward Kirby Dach in the shooting market as long as he gets top minutes, he skates with the No. 1 power play unit. 1 and exchange for a total of 1.5. Dach recorded two shots on four attempts in 20:19 of ice time during Tuesday’s loss to the Calgary Flames, and he and linemates Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield they have a respectable 53.9% 5-on-5 shooting percentage for the season.

Devils blueliner Dougie Hamilton leads the club in tackles (48) and tries (100) and has recorded three or more tackles in 11 of 15 games. His shot volume has also increased on home ice, with 9.76 shots per 60 since returning to North America over his 8.27 mark on the highway. Finally, the Habs also allow the fifth-most shots per game to opposing defensemen.
