Braeden Fletcher, 24, was featured in Sarnia Police’s Wanted Wanted Wednesday social media campaign last week. Police said he was wanted on charges of fraud over $5,000 and failure to appear in court.

He also recently failed to appear at a trial, which had to be rescheduled.

Police included a photo of Fletcher wearing a gray hoodie and asked anyone who knows where he is to contact them, but also warned them not to approach or try to catch anyone wanted by police.

I want Sarnia on Wednesday

Later that day, there was some confusion on social media that Fletcher was the target as the Sarnia Police Emergency Response Team. pulled over a vehicle at Russell and Durand streets.

“Buddy is only wanted for fraud and failure to appear so I don’t see the need for full SWAT on him,” one person responded to a Facebook post about the police presence in the area at the time.

A Facebook account associated with Fletcher responded to the comment: “No it wasn’t me.” Another person chimed in, saying: “I wouldn’t be happy if they got you one day, I’m sure.” Fletcher’s account replied, “Yes, they will when I surrender tomo.”

Sarnia police are investigating

It’s unclear if Fletcher turned himself in or was caught by police, but he was brought into a Sarnia courtroom in handcuffs Monday afternoon. Wearing a gray hoodie as he sat in the prisoner’s box, he was held in custody and forbidden to speak to a person, a plaintiff in one of his cases. All his charges have been postponed to Wednesday, when he is expected to have a bail hearing.

Fletcher faces four sets of charges in Sarnia, one each from 2022 and 2023 and two from this year.
