The Panthers offense made a big change against the Saints from the season opener

The Carolina Panthers the offense was horrible in the Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints. They scored 10 points and were outscored by 37. In Week 9, they made a huge adjustment on offense, scoring 23 points and getting their second win of the season.

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales hasn’t always had a great game plan this year, but one thing he changed from Week 1 could have translated into a win. The Panthers used virtually no pre-snap moves in Week 1, but have done so more often of late. On Sunday, they used it almost three-quarters of the time.

According to reporter Josh Norris, 73.6 percent of Carolina’s offensive plays saw a pre-snap move or had a player change. There were very few offensive penalties related to movement, so the players handled the surge well. That percentage is up from 35 percent in Week 1. They used the move more than all but six NFL teams this week.

On a few key plays, perhaps none more notable than the third-and-10 conversion on the game-winning drive, some moves helped create a successful play and lead to a much better day for Bryce Young as well.
