DENTON, Md. – A house fire in Denton Friday afternoon has been ruled accidental by Maryland state fire officials.

The fire was reported shortly after noon in the 100 block of Primrose Avenue. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about five minutes.

Further investigation revealed that the fire started on the nearest second floor and was caused after a juvenile allegedly stole an acetylene torch equipped with an improperly built-in starter.

Total damage was estimated at $11,500.
