A circular will be issued for the implementation of strict measures to prevent corruption at the land offices at the field level, said today (November 4) the advisor to the Ministry of Lands AF Hassan Ariff.

“We will issue a circular so that the secretary and senior officials concerned can take direct action if anyone in the land office gets involved in corruption matters or engages in discussions on such subjects, violating public order,” he. he said while speaking at a seminar titled ‘Role of Media in People Friendly Land Services’ held in the city.

The current state of the Land Ministry – in terms of matters such as land revenue registration, khatian, payment of land records and mutation – has not been widely communicated to the public and people are still facing difficulties, he said .

Referring to the allegations against the land offices, Hassan Ariff said that the office is under the law ministry.

Noting the delay in Land Appeal Board cases, the land councilor said: “The reason is that everyone has to come physically to participate. We are now setting up an online system for this. In the future, hearings will also be conducted online and no one will have to travel to Teknaf or Tetulia.

“Cases can be handled from the district or upazila level. The decisions will be made through online hearings and we will be able to solve the cases in a very short time”.
