Knoxville woman steals $40,000 in scratch-off lottery tickets from work, police report says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A woman has been charged with stealing between $40,000 and $50,000 in lottery tickets from her workplace, according to a police report obtained by WVLT News.

The report alleges Siearrah Truhn, 35, took and activated the lottery tickets while working at a convenience store on Maryville Pike.

An appeal from the Lottery Commission is what prompted the investigation. The store owner told police he was on the phone for hours trying to figure out what happened, eventually deciding Truhn had taken the tickets.

That led police to the Kroger on Chapman Highway, where employees told them Truhn had redeemed several thousand dollars in scratch-off tickets. Employees kept the tickets, the report said, and reported it to the lottery commission.

Truhn told police he refunded his tickets at work, but the owner said the amounts didn’t match. She was charged with theft and computer crimes.
