WESTLAKE, Ohio (WJW) – The Westlake Police Department responded to several calls about wild deer burying their heads in plastic pumpkin decorations, calling them a “wildlife hazard.”

According to a post on Westlake Police Department Facebook page On Monday, officers received calls about deer with plastic pumpkins stuck to their heads in recent days.

Officers responding to the calls attempted to get close enough to the deer, but the deer avoided the officers, post said.

“Yes! We answer all calls where a WPD employee can help the community,” Facebook said post added.

Police are now asking community members to remove any dangerous decorations from their yards, especially plastic lanterns with plastic handles, which tend to get stuck on deer heads.
