DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Dillon County Coroner has released the name of one of the victims of a fatal crash.

Coroner Donnie Grimsley said Alex Matthews, 21, of Dillon County, died in the crash Tuesday night on McKay Bridge Road near Judson Road.

Grimsley said a second person also died in the crash, but the name will not be released because the person is a minor.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a 2020 Toyota Tacoma traveling south went off the right side of the road, went down an embankment, struck a tree and then overturned.

A third person was taken to hospital. That person’s condition is unknown.

The accident remains under investigation
