MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) – Two Lexington, Kentucky men are facing charges after a drug investigation at a hotel in McCracken County.

Renato Benites, 26, was arrested for trafficking fentanyl, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kelvin Sawieh, 26, was arrested for conspiracy to traffic in fentanyl – second or subsequent offense, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, detectives learned on Thursday, Nov. 21 that two men were traveling from Lexington to a hotel in McCracken County with the intention of selling fentanyl pills.

Detectives waited in the area of ​​2960 Husbands Road and saw a vehicle believed to be involved go to a nearby gas station.

One of the people in the car is said to have got out and walked towards the hotel. Deputies say the man was later identified as Benites, the target of the investigation.

Benites was arrested after a brief struggle in the hotel parking lot.

While searching him, deputies say they found approximately 247 suspected fentanyl pills hidden in his pant leg.

And the driver of the vehicle, identified as Sawieh, was arrested. He is accused of working with the Benites to traffic the fentanyl and driving it to Paducah.

While searching the vehicle, deputies found marijuana, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say a third man, also from Lexington, who was in the vehicle was cited for drug possession and released.
