Chris Broussard says it’s “absolutely ridiculous” to call the Detroit Lions the best offense ever.

Starting the 2024 season with a 9-1 record and winning in dominant fashion left many pundits in awe of Detroit Lions offend.

while Ben JohnsonHis unit was praised by fans and many analysts, with First Things First co-host Chris Broussard having a different take on the Lions’ offense being considered in the conversation as the best in NFL history.

“It’s completely ridiculous. And I mean that,” Broussard said. “I don’t mean it’s a bit of an exaggeration, it’s completely ridiculous.”

Broussard went on to indicate that 2024 lions they don’t have an “all-time great” on their current roster, while displaying a chart of the highest-scoring offenses in the Super Bowl era.

“You look at the top 5 on the left side, everybody — Broncos, Peyton Manning, Patriots, Tom Brady. Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, Packers, Aaron Rodgers,” Broussard explained. “The other teams, you get a little less quality quarterbacks. But still, you need all-time greats at certain positions to be one of the all-time great offenses. And all 10 scored more than the Lions now.”

MORE: Nick Wright Calls Jared Goff ‘Civil’ Quarterback

Nick Wright who called recently Jared Goff only a “civilian” quarterback, indicated that the top offenses of all time feature more first-ballot Hall of Fame talent.

“Every one of those teams had a first-ballot quarterback, no doubt in the Hall of Fame, except for the ’83 Washington team, which had one of the greatest offensive lines in league history,” said Wright. “You’ve got Julio Jones, Randy Moss in a couple of them, so you’ve got all of that.”

Interestingly, Broussard doesn’t currently believe lions features future Hall of Famers despite the fact that several of the current skill players are under 25 years old.

“As good as the Lions’ quarterbacks and receivers are, none of them are guaranteed to be in the Hall of Fame,” Broussard added. “You might even be surprised if any of them get into the Hall of Fame. They’re good and maybe they’ll have great careers, but no.”

The lions they’ve thrived offensively, scoring 52 points in each of their last two home games, along with impressive road wins against Houston and Green Bay. After a few scrapes to open the year, including a loss to Tampa Bay in Week 2, the offense has found its stride and is decimating weaker defenses.

“I think usually the passing game takes the longest to start the season to this point, and I think you see a lot of trust between Jared (Goff) and his catchers, and that’s just — you’ve got, say, six weeks in training camp, four to six weeks to get that down, and now we have eight to 10 more to add, and so he has a lot of confidence in where those guys are going to be,” Johnson said. “There are routes that we haven’t necessarily practiced in a few weeks that we feel good about dusting off just because we have a lot of time to work on. So I think it’s the confidence, the timing, the anticipation that Jared has with his pass catchers.”
