The Bonfield senior was pronounced dead at the scene; no criminal charges are filed

BONFIELD, Ont. — North Bay OPP are investigating the death of a person following a reported dog attack in Bonfield.

On November 18, 2024, at approximately 10 a.m., OPP officers, along with Nipissing Borough Paramedics, responded to a 911 call reporting that a person had been fatally injured in a dog attack at a residence on James Street in Bonfield.

An 81-year-old man from Bonfield was pronounced dead at the scene.

OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the North Bay OPP Crime Unit provided investigative support.

The investigation is now being conducted by the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario in collaboration with the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is also assisting with the investigation.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on 20 November 2024 in Sudbury.

At this time, no foul play is suspected and no criminal charges are being filed.
