Big Lots is closing 19 more stores as the company moves on navigate through chapter 11 bankruptcycourt documents show.

Big Lots announced in September that the company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and planned further closing more than 340 stores. The closings come as affiliate Nexus Capital Management LP acquired Big Lots as part of a sale agreement, the retailer said in a press release.

“While the majority of our stores are profitable and we are taking all possible steps to improve the profitability of all of our stores, we will need to close certain locations to ensure that our business operates efficiently and that we can continue to serve our customers,” he said. the retailer.

In October, Big Lots closed an additional 50 stores in the United States. Although the stores are closing, the retailer has filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to continue paying and providing benefits to employees, as well as sending payments to major suppliers so it can continue to run the business.

The sale to Nexus is expected to be final by the fourth quarter of 2024, and the deal includes $707.5 million in financing, with $35 million coming from some of Big Lots’ current lenders.

According to a court document filed Monday and obtained by USA TODAY, the 11 Big Lots stores already set to close in Michigan include:

  • 5625 W. Saginaw Highway, Unit 1, Lansing
  • 3669 E. Grand River Ave., Howell
  • 2020 Grand River Ave., Okemos
  • 6207 S Westnedge Ave., Portage
  • 1401 Spring St., Petoskey
  • 2850 Washtenaw Ave., Ypsilanti
  • 2353 N. Park Drive, Holland
  • 32399 John R Road, Madison Heights
  • 4254 28th St. SE, Kentwood

All of the stores that Big Lots chose to close as part of its bankruptcy process were listed in court filings in September.
