SWEETWATER, Fla. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a private school bus in Sweetwater Wednesday morning, according to police.

Miami-Dade police confirmed the victim is a 22-year-old woman who recently graduated from Florida International University.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, graduated from college last summer, authorities said.

According to MDPD, the crash happened just before 8:25 a.m. in the area of ​​Southwest Fourth Street and 109th Avenue, near an apartment building for FIU students. The woman lived there, police said.

An MDPD spokesman said medics took the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Video from Sky 10 shows the bus marked as belonging to a company called Lily’s School Bus.

Authorities have not yet determined whether the bus driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, will be cited or charged.

FIU also announced that counseling services will be available to students on campus who may have known the victim.
