This memorandum of understanding signifies a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and IJN to provide the Cardiovascular Prevention Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program for health professionals in both public health clinics and private practices. This initiative is part of IJN’s efforts to establish Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinics (CRRCs) within communities.

The Cardiovascular Prevention CME program aligns with the first pillar of the Malaysian Health White Paper, which aims to “Transform Health Service Delivery”. This pillar includes systematic and structured improvements related to health service delivery. Among the proposed strategies are prioritizing the provision of primary healthcare and strengthening effective public-private partnerships. Thus, this collaboration is highly aligned with the goals and aspirations of the Malaysian Health White Paper.

The Cardiovascular Prevention CME program involves structured training over a three-year period to meet the current needs in the primary care system in addressing the increasing incidence of non-communicable diseases such as dyslipidemia, diabetes, hypertension and obesity.

The target audience includes family medicine specialists, medical officers, private doctors, pharmacists, nurses, dieticians and physiotherapists. Phase 1 of the program will be implemented over a year and comprises 10 online modules.

This will be followed by Phase 2, spanning two years, which includes case presentations, case discussions, forums and field visits.

This MoU symbolizes a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Health and IJN to improve the quality of healthcare delivery for patients at Ministry of Health facilities and the Malaysian public at large.
