PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) — The person believed to own Saje’s Kitchen on Federal Hill was arrested Nov. 8 after police say he intervened in a stabbing and knocked down one of the men involved.

According to information released by the Rhode Island court system, Andre Samuel, 42, was arrested on Nov. 8 and charged with felony disorderly conduct.

Providence Board of Licensing President Dylan Conley told ABC 6 News that Samuel is allowed only at the restaurant as a patron and not as an owner and said he found Samuel’s intervention in the violent incident “atypical”.

“Mr. Samuel, from what I’ve seen throughout the course, the entire license was a manager and/or an owner, he got into a knife fight, I think that’s atypical behavior for a patron,” Conley said . “Mr. Samuel was associated with at least two other clubs that had violent incidents that we shut down and I think we established a pattern of behavior.”

Saje Kitchen was closed pending a hearing on November 21.

Originally, the Providence Board of Licensing commissioned Saje Kitchen on Federal Hill to close for 72 hours.

Samuel is due back in court on Nov. 25 to face the misdemeanor charge.
