Bail bond agents charged after Jackson Co. burglary

JACKSON COUNTY, NC (FOX Carolina) – The North Carolina Insurance Commissioner reports three bail bondsmen have been charged in connection with a burglary in Jackson County.

According to a Jackson County grand jury indictment, Christian Paul Field, 23, and Sarah Gwenath Cochran, 38, went to a house in Cullowhee on May 2 that belonged to the mother a man they were looking for.

The indictment reports Field and Cochran trespassed into the home, took the man’s cell phone they were looking for and shoved his mother.

Christian and Kevin Field were also accused by special agents of returning and trespassing again on May 4.

Christian Field was arrested on November 14 and charged with theft, assault on a female and two counts of burglary. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on March 24, 2025.

Sarah Cochran was also arrested on Nov. 14 and charged with theft, felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor simple assault. She was given a $5,000 bond. Her court date is scheduled for March 24, 2025.

Kevin Field was issued a criminal summons and charged with misdemeanor burglary.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey said: “I thank our special agents for bringing this extremely complex case to light. I encourage everyone to report illegal behavior, suspected scams or insurance fraud immediately by calling us toll-free.”
