A 92-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and rape over the unsolved murder of a woman in 1967.

Louisa Dunne, 75, was strangled nearly six decades ago in her home in Bristol after being sexually assaulted.

On Tuesday, Avon and Somerset Police said a man had been arrested in connection with her death in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The force said he had been detained for questioning.

Police said the arrest came following a review of the case in 2023.

During this review, there was further forensic examination of elements related to the case, they added.

Mrs Dunne was found dead at her home in Britannia Road, Easton, by a neighbor on Wednesday 28 June 1967.

Her cause of death was later determined to be strangulation and asphyxiation. She had also been raped.
