Kericho – Tragedy struck Nyamanga village in Roret, Bureti sub-county, after two night guards from the Roret Coffee Cooperative Society were found murdered in the society’s greenhouse on Sunday night, November 17.

The guards were reportedly tied up and brutally bashed in the head, dying on the spot.

Residents suspect the attackers were coffee parchment thieves who made off with an undisclosed number of bags of dried coffee cherries.

The witness recounts the events that led to the killing of the guards

According to a report by Citizen Digital, a witness who lived near a cooperative society allegedly observed people carrying parchment bags of coffee from the society’s shops, raising the alarm after noticing the unauthorized activity.

After realizing they had been seen, the suspects chased him, but he escaped and alerted management.

Investigating the scene, management found abandoned bags, likely left behind as the suspects fled. The manager promptly reported the incident to the Roret Police Station for further investigation.

The bodies were taken to the mortuary for post-mortem and other necessary procedures.
