Prosecutors believe the serial predators accused of violent sexual assaults are unrelated

HOUSTON – A bond has been set at $600,000 for a man he is related to sexual assaults and apartment burglaries in the past three months.

Denzeill Sneed, 29, was arrested Wednesday in Acres Homes, less than two miles from where the attacks took place. Sneed, who recently escaped parole in September for aggravated robbery and evading arrest, now faces theft and intent to commit sexual assault for two counts of assault.

He was charged with four different crimes based on these two separate incidents. In each case, Sneed is charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony and then also with sexual assault in each case.

His bail was set by Judge Brown at $150,000 for each of the four cases, for a total of $600,000.

Harris County Assistant District Attorney Jay Gordon said detectives will continue to review the evidence, as well as evidence in any other cases.

“There have been several news reports of other sexual assaults similar to this occurring in the same area around the same time,” Gordon said.

A second suspect in connection with the West Bank Gulf attacks was arrested Friday night. Jayden Jercoyus Demouchet was charged with burglary of a habitation.

Demouchet was expected to appear in court on Monday, but was not physically there. Prosecutors have provided details about his case.

While Demouchet was on the run, prosecutors say he continued to sexually assault women. That’s how police found him Friday after receiving calls that he had assaulted two different women at the Concord at Little York Apartments.

A neighbor told KPRC 2’s Corley Peel that he saw Demouchet walking around with no pants on moments before the alleged attacks.

Gordon says at this time there is no connection between the two suspects.

What we know so far

In both cases, Sneed is accused of breaking into the women’s apartments while they were walking their children to the bus stop and then sexually assaulting them when they returned, according to court documents.

The judge said the first incident occurred on Aug. 14 at an apartment complex located on West Gulf Bank Rd. Officers said at 6:30 a.m. a woman told them she was assaulted in her apartment after Sneed broke in and was waiting in her apartment after taking her child to the bus stop.

The second attack, most recently on Friday, Nov. 8, happened at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of West Little York Rd. KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry spoke with a witness at the scene who said he knew the woman who was assaulted and said Sneed broke into the victim’s apartment while she was taking her child to the bus stop. When she returned, he was waiting for her in her home behind the door and sexually assaulted her.

He spoke with one of the alleged victims of Sneed’s attacks KPRC 2’s Corley Peeldescribing the horrific attack.

She was speaking in Spanish, so KPRC 2 used a translator.

“I heard some sort of noise and I looked out and through the closet door and there was a man standing there,” she recounted. “(He) came out of the closet and threw a blanket over my head. We started to fight. It overwhelmed me. He took all the money I had for rent and bills, then sexually assaulted me. I was trying to defend myself and I just couldn’t and he threatened to kill me. And after that, I went outside to get help and there was nobody.”

Before Wednesday, officers believed Sneed was also responsible for three other incidents that occurred in the area, but Demouchet is now a suspect in those cases.

  • On October 9th, at approximately 7:00 p.m., at 5300 West Gulf Bank Road, a woman was assaulted by a suspect who forced his way into her apartment. The suspect was armed with a gun.

  • On October 17th, at approximately 2:00 p.m., at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road, a woman was assaulted by a suspect who knocked on her apartment door and forced entry. The suspect was wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun.

  • On Oct. 24 at approximately 7:50 a.m. at 5350 West Gulf Bank Road, a woman was assaulted by a suspect who knocked on her apartment door and forced entry. The suspect was wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun.

“Since releasing surveillance video and photos in these incidents last Friday, we have uncovered evidence with the assistance of our FBI partners that points to the possibility of a second suspect in the three incidents that occurred in October,” said HPD Cmdr Elizabeth Lorenzana. .

All of the victims in both cases were Hispanic.

According to court records, Sneed has a history of violence. At the time of the first attack, he was on parole for aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

Anyone with information about the second suspect or who is a victim of Sneed’s attacks is asked to contact HPD’s Special Victims Unit at 713-308-1180.
