SaskPower has filed an appeal related to the deaths of two workers in Weyburn.

SaskPower was found guilty of three counts of workplace safety violations stemming from the incident.

In an email to 980 CJME, SaskPower media relations confirmed it filed the appeal but did not explain why.

“This does not diminish the great loss of Scott Bill and Cole Crooks, who were valued members of our SaskPower family. Their loss continues to be felt by all of us, and our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of these two employees,” the statement said.

“The safety of our employees, contractors and the public is SaskPower’s highest priority and we strive to continually improve safety.”

SaskPower said it could not comment further as the matter is currently before the courts.
