Former Mayor of Nizamabad Municipality and husband of BRS leader Dandu Neethu Kiran Dandu Chandrasekhar was brutally attacked by a bus driver at a local office in the city on Monday.

Nizamabad: Former Mayor of Nizamabad Municipality and BRS leader Dandu Neethu Kiranhis husband Dandu Chandrasekhar was brutally attacked by a bus driver at the office of a local corporation in the city on Monday. Chandrasekhar sustained severe head injuries in the attack and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

According to Nizamabad Fifth Town Circle Inspector, the auto driver, identified as Shaik Rasool, attacked Chandrasekhar following a dispute over land. A case has been registered against Shaik Rasool and an investigation is on, the CI said.

Meanwhile, Shaik Rasool released a video in which he admitted attacking Chandrasekhar as the latter had encroached on his land and demanded Rs 2 lakh. He alleged that Chandrashekar’s follower Gopal was running a gang and encroaching on peoples’ lands.

“My land has been invaded by the gang for the past three years. I asked them to release my land but they threatened me. Today, I met Chandrasekhar to ask him to give my land back, but he and his followers insulted me. In a fit of rage, I attacked him. If I had not hit him, his men would have killed me,” he said.

He claimed to be a supporter of the Congress party and urged the party leaders to support him and get his land back. A video of an injured Chandrasekhar lying on the ground being helped by people to the hospital is going viral on various social media platforms.
