Patna: A 42-year-old woman was allegedly raped in her house in a village in Gaya district late on Sunday evening. The criminals also looted Rs 1 lakh in cash from her house. Police detained a person for questioning in connection with the incident on Monday.
The crime occurred when two intruders entered the house with the intention of committing robbery. When the woman resisted, one of the criminals raped her, while the other took the key to a box and stole the money. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the house and hospitalized the woman.
“The police have recorded the statement of the woman who is undergoing medical examination at a government hospital,” said the SHO of the concerned police station.
He added, “According to the woman, her family borrowed Rs 1 lakh for sinking a well for irrigation purposes. The criminals seemed to know this and committed the crime. Additional measures are being taken to arrest the criminals involved.”
