wow

After another porous first half, it seemed that New York Jets they would hang on and keep their playoff chances alive after a better second-half effort with a 24-16 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Instead, the Jets fell short again in a stunning, 28-27, last-minute loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.

The defense collapsed when it needed to step up the most, and QB Aaron Rodgers made costly mistakes to keep the clock running at the end to have any chance of getting into field goal range and setting up a potential game-winning FG attempt .

In Rodgers’ defense, it didn’t help that interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich inexplicably called the Jets’ final timeout with 1:32 left as the Colts took the lead for good just two plays later.

Now, the Jets will have to make history to play meaningful games in late January, as no team with a 3-8 record has made the postseason since 1998.

Barring a miracle, the Jets will head into their bye week with the season likely over unless they do the unthinkable by running the table and winning their final six games in short order.

If this is truly a collapse and the Jets lose most, if not all, of their remaining games, big changes would be needed for a veteran-led roster that has clearly been everything this season to try to win a Super Bowl this season.

Here’s our live analysis and updates from Sunday’s game between the Jets and Colts at MetLife Stadium:

And just like that, the Colts are back in front, Anthony Richardson running into the end zone with less than a minute left. Will the Jets come back and win this game?

The Jets finally scored 25 or more points for the first time this season after a 35-yard field goal by freshman Anders Carlson to extend the lead late in it.

It wasn’t over yet, as the Colts had their most efficient drive of the day, going 70 yards in eight plays, when Anthony Richardson threw a strike to Josh Downs over the middle for a 10-yard touchdown.

Indianapolis tries to tie the game by going for two, but Richardson barely overturns his intended target to keep it a two-point game.

Aaron Rodgers has his second touchdown of the day as he finds tight end Kenny Yeboah for his first career TD reception.

It was just Yeboah’s third sack of the season after starting the year on the bench.

On their fourth homer in as many weeks, newly signed Anders Carlson set a career high with a 58-yard field goal that slipped wide left.

The back and forth battle continues in the Meadowlands with Gang Green now back in front.

The Colts regained the lead thanks to a 56-yard field goal by kicker Matt Gay.

Now it’s time for Aaron Rodgers to answer again after back-to-back leads.

In the blink of an eye, the Jets took over.

It’s 14 unanswered points for the Gang Green, who have scored touchdowns in two of their last three games after the defense forced a fumble by Colts QB Anthony Richardson deep in their own territory.

Two plays later, Breece Hall is able to get to the edge and find the end zone for the second time today.

There’s no denying how ugly the first half was for the Jets.

Costly mistakes and a non-existent offense looked to be another blowout week for the Jets, who went 13-0 and didn’t have a first down with less than two minutes left in the half.

With the booing birds in full force, Aaron Rodgers and the offense finally came alive, with the Gang Green scoring their first touchdown in five quarters and cutting the Colts’ lead to six before halftime.

The Jets offense finally comes alive on the final drive before halftime when Aaron Rodgers checks the ball to Breece Hall, who finds space and runs untouched into the end zone to get Gang Green on the board.

It’s the Jets’ first touchdown since late in the fourth quarter in their come-from-behind win over the Texans in Week 9.

That needs to be the spark that ignites the Jets offense to avoid their seventh loss in their last eight games.

After the disastrous fourth down failure, the Jets defense holds the Colts to a field goal after Quinnen Williams sacks Anthony Richardson for a 16-yard loss on third down.

The Jets defense did a good job limiting the damage, now it’s time for Aaron Rodgers and Company to do something on offense to get points on the board.

The booing birds are eliminated after the Jets fail to cover on 4th-and-1 from their own 39-yard line, with tight end Tyler Conklin trying unsuccessfully to run the ball directly under center.

Another score here from the Colts and it would essentially put this game out of reach considering how bad the Jets offense has been since that second half comeback against the Texans in Week 9.

Worse still for the Jets, who now find themselves up 10-0 after Colts QB Anthony Richards finds the end zone to extend Indy’s lead.

It was more of the same for Gang Green, who started the game with three consecutive three-and-outs, the NFL-leading third of the season.

The second quarter has just begun, but the Jets are outscored 132-9 and have now gone five straight quarters without a touchdown.

After a quick Jets three-and-out, the Colts get on the board first with a 41-yard field goal from kicker Matt Gay.

The big play of the drive came when Colts QB Anthony Richardson threw a 31-yard strike to WR Josh Downs to put Indianapolis in Jets territory all the way to the field goal.

Jets vs Colts Prediction

Jets 24, Colts 21: It’s crazy to think the Jets are favored here, let alone a four-point favorite a week after losing by 25 points. However, the NFL is truly a week-to-week league and it shows here. It’s a comeback performance for both the Jets offense and defense as they pull off a narrow win over the Colts to pick up their fourth win of the season heading into their Week 12 sweep.
