Florida Responds to 2022 LSU Tom Petty Troll

Florida answered the bell Saturday at The Swamp, then responded to LSU’s troll about its cherished Tom Petty tradition with a reminder to the Tigers after its 27-16 upset victory.

Two years ago in Gainesville, LSU was having fun at Florida’s expense. The day after the 45-35 win, the Tigers decided a road win over an SEC rival wasn’t enough. So, they rubbed it a little (or a lot)trolling a nice tradition the Gators started in 2017 after Petty’s passing, where they play “I Won’t Back Down” during the break between the third and fourth quarters.

Well, what happens comes around, as they say, so 2 years later, Florida had a chance to get revenge after sending LSU to its 3rd straight loss on Saturday. On Saturday night, UF Football’s social media account tweeted a highlight montage of the Gators’ win, with Petty’s song playing in the background, while Brian Kelly can also be heard lecturing his team about knowing the words to the song so that they can be the ones who sing it. in the 4th quarter en route to a win, which is exactly what happened in 2022.

Not 2 years later though, and UF’s tweet was simple and to the point: “Remember the words coach?”

Saturday wasn’t nearly as fun for Kelly and LSU as it was a few years earlier. This time, the Gators responded, in every possible way.
