KINGSTON, Jamaica — Flow employees put their passion for community service into practice last week, wrapping up a series of philanthropic activities to mark the company’s annual Mission Week.

Now in its sixth year, Mission Week is an initiative led by Flow’s parent company, Liberty Latin America, that unites employees in Latin America and the Caribbean in volunteer activities aimed at uplifting and empowering local communities.

This year, over 100 Flow volunteers made a difference to more than 1,000 community members, exemplifying Flow’s dedication to building a stronger and more connected Jamaica.

Danielle Savory, senior communications manager at Flow, described Mission Week as a deeply ingrained part of the company’s culture.

“At Flow, we are committed to making a difference,” said Savory. “Mission Week is more than just a series of events – it reflects our values as a company to impact lives for the better and our ongoing commitment to uplifting communities in Jamaica.”

Throughout the week, Flow employees engaged in various activities to connect with and support local communities. At Webster Memorial Basic School, volunteers hosted engaging reading sessions with young students, promoting literacy and sparking their imaginations.

In partnership with Junior Achievement Jamaica, Flow also welcomed high school students to its corporate office for an inspiring career and mentoring open house where Flow team members, across departments, shared information about careers in telecommunications, motivating students to pursue opportunities in technology.

In Trench Town – a community known as the birthplace of reggae music – Flow equipped the Joy Town Foundation, which operates a school at the Ambassadors Amphitheater centre, with computers and internet connectivity to further enhance the educational experience.

Joy Town Foundation manager Camille Johnson expressed her gratitude. “The support from Flow has been transformative for our students. These new Chromebooks and internet connectivity will open the doors to learning and digital opportunities, empowering them in ways we only dreamed of before,” she said.

Flow’s Mission Week activities have also extended to health and wellness initiatives. The company, through staff contributions, donated feminine hygiene products to the Her Flow Foundation, an organization dedicated to menstrual health and equity across the island.

Shelly-Ann Weeks, founder of the Her Flow Foundation, expressed her appreciation, saying: “Flow’s support means many women and girls will have access to the hygiene products they need.”

In 2023, employees of Flow and other Liberty Latin American companies contributed 7,800 volunteer hours in 22 countries. Also, more than 1,300 employees have collaborated with more than 100 community organizations.
