Police have searched a stretch of coast on the Isle of Wight after the discovery of a human bone.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said a member of the public found the bone on the shore at King’s Quay, Whippingham, in April.

It has been sent for forensic and DNA tests, but the origin of the bone and the identity of the person it belonged to are currently unknown, the force said.

Officers conducted a further search of the area on Friday, but no further human remains were found.
