JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Cool and dry weather will start the weekend with plenty of sun and windy conditions on Saturday. Winds will begin to decrease closer to sunset. Strong winds off the beaches will maintain red flags due to hazardous water conditions – high risk of rip currents will prevail throughout the day.

Temperatures will remain in the “normal” range in the low 70s, but will gradually warm Sunday through Monday. Evening lows will be in the 50s.

Rain returns from Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Still tracking Tropical Storm Sara: According to the National Hurricane Center, a slow west-northwest movement is
the forecast will begin late Saturday, with more rapid movement to the west-northwest and northwest expected Sunday and Sunday night. On the forecast track, the center of Sara will continue to move near the northern coast of Honduras over the next day before approaching Belize, then moving ashore in Belize during the day on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts. A slight shift in power is likely today. Slight strengthening is possible this evening and Sunday before landfall in Belize, with weakening expected after landfall. Sara is expected to dissipate Sunday night or Monday as it crosses the southern portion of the Yucatan Peninsula.
