Pittsburgh Steelers safety recruits All-Pro Ravens cornerback

Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott made a lot of noise this week after his appearance on the Punch Line Podcast, a podcast hosted by Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey.

Both players remained friends after Elliott left the Ravens organization, which did not re-sign Elliott despite solid play.

During the podcast, Elliott praised Steelers fans and the organization for how crazy it is, especially on the road. Elliott decided to give Humphrey’s recruiting a shot at some point in his career, even if it’s later. Meanwhile, Elliott himself would like to retire with the Steelers.

“Every away game we’ve had, they’re there,” Elliott said. “It’s 60/40 every away game I’ve been to. It’s crazy, I’ve never seen it before, so the fans are going wild, you know. Honestly, for God’s sake, I hope I’m here until I retire. I would love to play here. So hey, you had your chance. If at the end of your career you ever decide to come…”

Humphrey is a career Raven who has terrorized the Steelers at times in the rivalry, including forcing a game-winning fumble in their first game of 2019 against JuJu Smith-Schuster.

It seems unlikely that Humphrey will ever make that jump, especially since he still remains a solid cornerback in the NFL to this point. However, Patrick Queen made the jump, and that was always surprising, so nothing in the NFL can ever be ruled out.
