Johnny Somali has been banned from leaving South Korea as the streamer faces over 10 years in prison

Streamer Johnny Somali has been banned from leaving South Korea and could face more than 10 years in prison if convicted of assault and drug charges.

Johnny Somali’s reign of terror in the streaming world began in 2023 when he terrorized Japan and Israel while broadcasting on Kick, resulting multiple confrontations with the authorities.

The creator faced with the wrath of PewDiePiewho accused him of “destroying” Japan in a YouTube video. This determined the Somali threaten the Swede with a lawsuit over some of the language used, arguing that PewDiePie was “defamatory”, referring to him as a terrorist.

In September 2024, the Somali traveled to South Korea and continued his antics. In addition to getting he started a subway and causing a scene in a shop, caused outrage kissing the Statue of Peace – a monument to the victims of sexual slavery.

These incidents eventually led to the South Koreans taking matters into one’s own hands by assaulting him. A Korean YouTuber even put up a $770 reward for information on his whereabouts hold attacks.

Now, the banned Kick streamer can’t leave the country even if he wants to after his streams have been received the attention of the South Korean parliament. Conformable yahoohe faces assault and drug charges and is barred from leaving while he is investigated.

South Korea is very strict when it comes to drug use. Possession or use of illegal drugs can lead to a penalty of up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 100 million won ($72,500). Meanwhile, assault can face a maximum sentence of two years or a fine of 5 million won ($3,600).

If the case goes to trial, it would be the second time a Somali has been in court in an Asian country. After his trial in Japan, Somali he admitted he lied to the judgeclaiming he wasn’t making money streaming and was filming “documentaries”.
