32 Illinois hospitals earn ‘A’ grade, safety on the rise

Ill. (WTVO) – Many Illinois hospitals scored exemplary in a recent survey that judges safety measures.

The Leapfrog Group conducted its biannual survey at the request of companies that purchase health insurance for their employees. Nearly 3,000 hospitals were assessed on their ability to prevent medical errors, accidents and infections.

The DATA The fall 2024 report was released Friday and shows the increased safety of Illinois hospitals overall since the last survey.

32 Illinois hospitals received an “A” grade, and Saint Mary’s Hospital in Decatur was the only location to receive an “F.”

OSF Saint Anthony Hospital in Rockford and FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport both received a “B.”

UW Health Swedish American Hospital in Rockford and Katherine Shaw Hospital in Dixon both received a “D.”

Beloit Memorial Hospital was the only local hospital to earn an “A.”
