3 juveniles charged with burglary at Coventry home

COVENTRY, Conn. (WTNH) — Three juveniles have been charged after they allegedly broke into a home on Woodland Road earlier this month, Coventry police said.

Police said the break-in happened at a then-vacant home on Woodland Road. However, when the homeowners returned around the first of the month, they reported finding evidence of forced entry by someone who appeared to have spent “considerable time” there.

Officers said they used the home’s surveillance video to identify the teenagers — both by their appearance and the fact that they referred to each other by name in the video, according to police.

The three juveniles, ages 15, 16 and 17, were charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass and sixth-degree larceny.

The 17-year-old suspect was also charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, according to police.

They were sent to Superior Juvenile Court in Willimantic.
