“Daily show” correspondent Jordan Klepper spent much of his Thursday night monologue trash-talking Matt Gaetzformer House Republican who is now president-elect Donald Trumphis choice for attorney general.

“Call me old-fashioned, but it seems to me that a guy who was recently investigated by the Department of Justice is not the best fit to lead the Department of Justice,” he said, referring to an investigation in a sex trafficking investigation involving a 17-year-old girl.

No charges were brought and the investigation was eventually dropped.

But Klepper is not alone in his distaste for Gaetz, as many are republicans I’m not happy about his nomination.

“If you’re wondering why Matt Gaetz’s own party hates him so much, the answer would actually take some time,” he said, then tried to sum up: “It’s not just the minor sex allegations. He also routinely attacks other Republicans, doesn’t work himself, and his personal attempt to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy divided his party so much that he had to be verbally restrained from fighting him in Parliament.”

Klepper ran footage from last year Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) describing how Gaetz would show videos of women he slept with and brag about drug-fueled sexual escapades.

This week, however, Mullin indicated that Gaetz has his vote because he “has complete confidence” in Trump.

“Here, folks, is Republican submission to Donald Trump in a nutshell: Matt Gaetz is a lunatic who forced me to watch his sex tapes, and yes, I will vote for him,” Klepper said.

So what can be done Democrats do?

Fellow “Daily Show” correspondent. Although Lydic offered only one option.

“I’ve talked to the Democrats and their strategy is to vote for it unanimously,” she joked. “It’s part of a new strategy they call, and I quote, ‘fuck and find out.’ If Donald Trump wants a co-clown as AG, Donald Trump gets a co-clown as AG.”

She said the Democrats will stop cleaning up the MAGA mess.

“Do you want to be mean and smoke a cigarette? Well, guess what: now you have to smoke the whole pack,” she said. “Good news: According to RFK’s new health guidelines, it’s healthier than vaccines.”
