Wife of Monroe County murder suspect arrested, warrant says

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The wife of a Monroe County man accused of murder has been arrested, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WVLT News.

Nicholas Wayne Hamlett made headlines after he was accused of killing Steven Douglas Lloyd, 34, who made a fake 911 call claiming to be a hiker in distress, then fled the state.

Hamlett was arrested on Sunday, and now we know his wife is also facing charges.

According to the warrant, Taylor Ann Fiber is accused of lying to police, saying Hamlett, who had a fake ID, was the “hiker” brother who called 911.

This is untrue, the warrant said, adding that she knew Hamlett’s true identity. The warrant also said Fiber bought Hamlett a Greyhound bus ticket from Knoxville to Columbia, South Carolina, so he could flee the state.

In addition, officers said Fiber bought camping supplies for Hamlett while he was in hiding and warned him that law enforcement was looking for him.

Since Hamlett’s capture, there haven’t been many additional details. WVLT News spoke with Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones, who said Thursday that the office is working to extradite Hamlett from South Carolina, where he was arrested.
