A Kent middle school student has been arrested following an alleged shooting threat

Kent police say a 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after allegedly threatening gun violence at Stanton Middle School.

Police said in an emailed news release that they and school administration began an investigation after it was reported that the boy, a student at the school, threatened to shoot and possibly injure another student others.

No weapon was found, police said.

The boy was taken from the school to the Kent Police Department and then to the Portage County Juvenile Detention Center.

“Once again, we are grateful to our students who speak up to help protect our schools,” Police Administrative Lt. Mike Lewis said in the email.
