TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Wednesday marked 22 years since a Tallahassee police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty.

On November 13, 2002, Sergeant Dale Green was ambushed while responding to a home invasion robbery, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

The suspect was arrested after fleeing the scene, following a long pursuit and a shootout with police. Nearly two years after his death, the suspect was convicted of Green’s murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Green was a thirteen-year veteran with TPD.
