(CNN) – Michigan officials discovered something unusual during a home raid on Tuesday.

Michigan State Police seized a number of items from a stash of illegal items, including guns and drugs.

The strangest thing they found was an alligator.

Police said they turned over the recovered reptiles to a local animal shelter.

Detectives from the Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team recovered more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of heroin, six grams of cocaine, and 371 grams of various pills, including oxycodone.

A suspect was arrested and charges are pending.

Police did not say why the search warrant was executed.
