SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An incident involving a gun has put several public schools in Shelby County on lockdown.

An email from the Shelby County Public Schools superintendent’s office says school district administrators were told around 9:30 a.m. that “a threat was made with a weapon in the area of ​​Rocket Lane.”

Police were notified of the threat and schools on Rocket Lane were placed on a light lockdown while an investigation was launched. At 10:30 a.m., all schools in the county were placed on maximum alert. Schools on Rocket Lane, including the Milestone Academy campus, remained on lockdown.

School district officials at this time, the threat is unfounded.

According to a spokesperson for Jefferson Community and Technical College, KCTC’s Shelby County campus is not affected by the lockdown.
