A Western Kentucky man has been arrested on multiple charges following a false home invasion report

SALEM, Ky. (KFVS) – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man following a false report of a home invasion.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, deputies responded to a residence in Salem, Kentucky, following a report of a home invasion.

The report was made by Steven Cummings, 35, of Salem. When deputies arrived, they encountered Cummings outside his residence, armed with a loaded handgun.

After investigating the alleged home invasion, deputies determined that the reported incident was unfounded.

Further investigation revealed that Cummings was in possession of methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office says Cummings was later arrested and charged with several felonies, including falsely reporting an incident prompting an emergency response, public intoxication, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of first degree of a controlled substance. (methamphetamine) with a firearm and failure to notify the Department of Transportation of a change of address.

Cummings was booked into the McCracken County Jail.
