In a horrific incident, a Tamil Nadu government doctor was stabbed seven times at a Chennai hospital on Wednesday morning by a youth whose mother was being treated for cancer by the same doctor. The young man was also a caretaker at that hospital. The doctor, an oncologist, also has a heart condition and suffered injuries to his upper chest and head. He is in Intensive Care, or ICU, but is now in stable condition.
Doctors have suspended all work except emergency services. They submitted a 13-point demand to the Tamil Nadu government to ensure the doctor’s safety.
