The largest artificial surf resort in Europe is located in Great Britain | Great Britain | News

Europe’s largest artificial surfing facility has opened in the UK, bringing world-class waves to Scottish shores.

Located near Ratho, just outside Edinburgh, Lost Shore Surf Resort covers an amazing 100 acres, three times the size of London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.

Built to deliver consistent waves all year round, Lost Shore features cutting-edge Wavegarden Cove technology, a unique wave generation system capable of producing waves up to 6 meters high every few seconds.

This technology allows the waves to be adapted for all experience levels, from ripples for beginners to powerful waves suitable for professionals.

With its large lagoon and variety of wave sizes, Lost Shore hopes to attract both locals looking to learn the sport and experienced surfers keen to practice without having to wait for the right ocean conditions.

Andy Hadden, founder of Lost Shore Surf Resort, said: “This is a dream come true. Lost Shore Surf Resort is a world-class adventure, hospitality and wellness center.

“After ten years of planning, it is thrilling to open our doors and welcome visitors to experience this incredible resort.

“We believe Lost Shore will make surfing accessible to everyone, while showcasing Scotland as a leading destination for adventure tourism.

“I can’t wait to see more people realizing the mental and physical benefits of surfing. Who knows, this could be the training ground for Scotland’s next Olympic surfing champion.”

The design of the resort balances advanced technology with ecological sustainability, using renewable energy sources and water recycling systems.

It also offers many facilities beyond surfing, including a surf school, retail spaces, cafes, wellness areas and accommodation overlooking the wave pool.

The facility’s developers envision Lost Shore as a vibrant community hub, not just for surfers, but also for families, adventure seekers and tourists drawn to the stunning Scottish scenery.

Beyond providing a new surfing hotspot, Lost Shore will have a significant impact on the local economy, creating hundreds of jobs and attracting thousands of visitors annually.
