Hope Hospital, Ark., is getting new life as Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center

HOPE, Ark. (KSLA) — Pafford Medical Services, along with leaders of Hope and Hempstead County, has taken over Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center after the previous owners filed for bankruptcy.

Administrator Shelby Brown said she is excited about the life of the facility.

“It’s still business as usual. And we want people to know if you have an emergency, you need to come to the emergency room.”

The center is licensed for 48 beds and has around 100 employees. Brown said the doors remained open as they went through the bankruptcy process.

“Employees are not new; they are the ones who have been here, taking care of patients and making sure that quality medical care is being given to the people of the area.”

Dr. James Miller worked at the center for seven years.

“Hopefully we can get back to the glory days of taking care of patients and letting people stay here without going far for health care.”

Brown said they are making some equipment updates and hope to add more beds in the future.

“I am excited about this opportunity and believe there is so much potential for growth here at Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center.”
