The group admits $45,261 in damage to Bear’s Den Golf Course

Jacob M. Poferl, 18, and Travis J. Poferl, 20, both of Forest Lake, are charged with felony first-degree criminal damage to property.

According to the probable cause statement, on Aug. 10, a Hubbard County sheriff’s deputy investigated damage to a number of holes at Bear’s Den Golf Course, along with three golf carts. The course manager said the damage included broken greens, fairways and sand traps, along with trash cans, stakes and markers.

Estimated damage to the golf course was $45,261, according to the report.

All three carts had blood stains, the report said, and had been modified to go faster. They were the last three carts rented on August 9. Two of the signatures were illegible and the phone numbers were fake. Travis Poferl, one of the five people, used a credit card. Hailey CL Nelson was identified as Travis’ girlfriend. Both admitted they were involved in the incident to the deputy, the report said. They identified the other three as Matthew R. Conzemius, Jacob Poferl and a juvenile. They reported that the juvenile jumped on a sand trip and hit his head on a PVC pipe, which required four stitches at the hospital.

Conzemius and Jacob also admitted to damaging the course. Both said the minor caused the most damage.

The Poferls make their first court appearance on November 19.
