Ankle monitor helps police track down shooting suspect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Nashville man electronically monitored for a drug arrest in March was placed back into custody on Oct. 14 after allegedly injuring a 19-year-old man on South 13th.th Street, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Police said they were able to track down Keandre Johnson, 27, thanks to his ankle monitor. Police found Johnson at the scene of a shooting in which one person was shot in the side, officials said.

Johnson was arrested Monday at the Cheatham Place Apartments on 9thth Avenue North.

In March, Johnson was arrested on South 7thth Street for transporting a fully automatic handgun, fentanyl and cocaine. He was booked on $83,000 bail that police said was reduced by a judge who released him from jail on an ankle monitor.

Police said Johnson’s new charges include felony aggravated assault, criminal endangerment, possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and felony evading arrest.

Johnson was booked on a $191,000 bond.
