WPD identifies 4 victims, alleged gunman killed in south Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – On November 10, 2024 at 5:45 pm, Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received a call from two people reporting that they found a man with gunshot wounds at a residence located in the 1700 block of S. . Wichita Police and the Wichita Fire Department responded to the call. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered 67-year-old Anthony Stickney, who lived at that address. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Wichita Fire Department personnel. This shooting is being documented under Wichita Police Department case number 24C200343.

While investigating this shooting, officers learned from the original caller that the last person at this residence was believed to be Anthony’s son, Joshua Stickney, 42, who lived at a residence located at 1900 S Laura. Officers responded to that location to locate Joshua. When officers arrived, they could see two people inside the residence who were unmoving or unresponsive when officers knocked on the door. At 7:05 p.m., officers forced entry into Laura’s residence and located three males suffering from gunshot wounds. Those men have been identified as Joshua, 66-year-old Donald Dodge and 55-year-old Terry Meyer. Donald is a friend and neighbor of Joshua; Terry is Joshua’s stepfather. At Joshua’s feet, officers found a firearm. Joshua’s injury appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Joshua, Donald and Terry were pronounced dead by Sedgwick County EMS. These shootings were documented under WPD case number 24C200384.

While trying to find someone to take care of Joshua’s pet, officers were instructed to contact a neighbor at another residence on Laura. That neighbor was 39-year-old Alan Young. Officers went to Alan’s residence and found him unresponsive inside. Officers forced entry into the residence and found Alan suffering from gunshot wounds. Alan was pronounced dead by the Wichita Fire Department. This shooting was documented under WPD case number 24C200408.

WPD investigators worked the case over the weekend. The preliminary ballistics examination provided a presumptive conclusion that the firearm located next to Joshua is the firearm used in all of the shootings. Our investigators continue to conduct interviews, process scene evidence and process digital evidence to better understand what led up to this shooting. This does not appear to be a random act of violence; no suspects are noted and we have no information that the general public is at risk.
