2 dead in motorcycle crash on Hwy 101 in Fortuna over the weekend

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently investigating a motorcycle accident that killed two people over the weekend.

The crash happened just after noon on Sunday, Nov. 10, along the 101 Freeway. The CHP said a 2007 Harley Davidson, driven by a 41-year-old man, along with a 46-year-old female passenger, was traveling north on Hwy. 101 with a group of motorcyclists when, for reasons still under investigation, the bike lost control and crashed south of Main Street.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, however, CHP said the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. They said the motorcyclist’s female passenger was taken to St. Joseph of Eureka with major injuries, but she succumbed to her injuries.

The 101 Freeway was closed for about two hours while the CHP investigated the crash. They said the cause remains unknown.
