Oscar winning actress Susan Sarandon admitted her career has suffered since she made controversial remarks about the Jewish people at a pro-Palestinian rally last year.

“I’ve been dropped by my agency, my projects have been pulled,” Sarandon told the British newspaper The Times. “I was used as an example of what not to do if you want to keep working.”

Sarandon was declined rapidly from major Hollywood talent agency UTA last November after making anti-Semitic comments at a Manhattan rally to protest the Israel-Hamas war.

“There are a lot of people who are afraid, who are afraid of not being Jewish right now and getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence,” Sarandon said in November . 17, 2023.

Sarandon apologized weeks later, calling her word choice a “terrible mistake.”

“Intending to communicate my concern about an increase in hate crimes, I said that American Jews, as targets of rising anti-Semitic hatred, ‘get a taste of what it’s like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence, ‘,” her social media post began.

“This phrase was a terrible mistake“, she continued, “because it implies that until recently the Jews were strangers to persecution, when the opposite is true. As we all know, from centuries of oppression and genocide in Europe, to the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh, PA, Jews have long been familiar with religious discrimination and violence that continues to this day.”

“I deeply regret that I diminished this reality and hurt people with this comment. My intention was to show solidarity in the fight against bigotry of all kinds, and I am sorry that I failed to do so,” she added.

The far-left actress, who later drew the ire of other Hollywood liberals refusing to approve Hillary Clinton, in the 2016 election, said she was unsure if she would ever work in a major Hollywood production because of the fallout from her activism.

“I don’t know,” she told The Times when asked if she thought she would get offers for big-budget films in the future.

Sarandon is currently working on a low-budget bowling comedy, “The Gutter.” She told The Times that she didn’t think she would be offered “anything in Hollywood” again.

“There are so many unemployed right now (since last November… who have lost their jobs as custodians, as writers, as painters, as cafeteria workers, substitute teachers who have been fired because they have tweeted something, or liked a tweet, or called for a ceasefire,” Sarandon added.

Despite the fallout from her remarks, the actress continued to speak at rallies protesting the Israel-Hamas war on Capitol Hill and at Columbia University.
