ELMIRA (WBNG) — The Elmira Police Department announced Monday the arrest of a man for a sex crime.

Elmira Police arrested Michael J. Valderrama. He faces a charge of sexual abuse. An age and address for Valderrama were not provided by officers.

The police stated that on November 9, around 6:30 p.m., the police were called to the City Center parking area for a report of a person who had been assaulted by a male subject.

Police said shortly thereafter there were several similar reports of the same subject assaulting other victims.

According to police, Valderrama entered a business on West Water Street and sexually assaulted a victim. She requested medical assistance from ERWAY Ambulance.

Police said Valderrama was found by officers with the help of a citizen.
